Bentofix® Geosynthetic Clay Liner (GCL)

BENTOFIX® IS A NEEDLE PUNCHED REINFORCED GEOSYNTHETIC CLAY LINER (GCL) WITH TWO GEOTEXTILE LAYERS ENCAPSULATING A LAYER OF SODIUM BENTONITE TO FORM A HYDRAULIC BARRIER.

Bentofix GCLs are needle punched, reinforced composites that combine two durable geotextile outer layers and a uniform core of high swelling powder sodium bentonite clay. This forms a uniform, multidirectional, shear resistant hydraulic barrier with self-sealing and rehealing characteristics.

Manufactured from strong and durable nonwoven geotextile, which encapsulates and protects the layer of sodium bentonite, ensuring the long term performance of Bentofix. A unique fibre bonding process locks the needle punched fibres into place creating high internal shear strength. This fibre reinforcement also prevents lateral migration of the bentonite. When hydrated, the bentonite swells to form a low permeability layer with the equivalent hydraulic protection of a thick compacted clay layer.

Bentofix is the leading brand of GCL worldwide, with over two decades of successful installations.

An ideal solution for lining dams, landfills, stormwater ponds, and effluent ponds where the high performance, guaranteed quality, and ease of installation make it the first choice for design engineers.

Bentofix® is a registered trademark of Naue Gmbh & Co. Kg registered in Germany.

BENEFITS & FEATURES

  • Versatile sealing applications with different GCL types and sodium bentonite
  • Can reduce construction costs by replacing compacted clay
  • Robust geotextile encapsulates and contains the bentonite
  • Withstands differential settlement better than compacted clay liners
  • Uniform peel strength provides multidirectional shear strength
  • Thermal lock process increases internal shear strength and interface friction angles
  • Self-sealing overlaps available
  • Quick, easy and cost effective to install
  • Bentonite powder is impregnated into the side overlap in the factory, meaning faster joins with no additional on site work
