DuraSlope Reinforced Soil System
The DuraSlope system is for slopes up to 45º, utilising primary structural geogrids for internal stability of the slope.
The DuraSlope system will often incorporate a permanent Turf Reinforcement Mat (TRM) laid over the slope surface to prevent erosion and promote vegetative growth at the face.
Reinforced soil walls, also called Mechanically Stabilised Earth Walls (MSEW), are becoming increasingly popular as an economical and effective solution for steepened slopes and retaining walls.
Each DuraSlope reinforced soil system component is individually selected and engineered to work together to provide a structurally sound long-term solution. All structural elements are manufactured to strict ISO 9001 procedures and quality assurance data is available to the engineer as required.
Cirtex® can provide design support using the latest slope reinforcement and MSEW programs.
StrataGrid® is a Registered Trademark of Glen Raven, Inc. Registered in the United States.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the secondary geogrid used for?
The secondary geogrid is for face stability and compaction assistance only, and the grade and type of grid is not as important as the primary geogrid, DuraGrid X, is often used for this.
What is the difference between DuraSlope and DuraGreen?
DuraSlope is for slopes 45 degrees and less where the face is not supported by the geogrid reinforcement and is protected by an erosion control product. DuraGreen is for slopes up to 70 degrees and where the face has long-term support from the geogrid.
Does the face need to be vegetated?
Vegetation of the slope face is critical to the long-term performance of reinforced slopes. The contractor must ensure the slope is vegetated by either hydro seeding or placing a seeded soil mix directly into the facing bags, if used. The erosion protection matting serves to protect the bare soil face against erosion until the vegetation is established, assist in reducing runoff velocity for increased water absorption by the soil, thus promoting long-term survival of the vegetative cover and reinforce the surficial root system of the vegetative cover.
Is BioCoir or ECC3 better for the face of a DuraSlope slope?
Both BioCoir and ECC3 will protect the face of a slope in the short term, however BioCoir will degrade and relies on vegetation to establish within 1 or 2 seasons. ECC3 is a longer-term option and has higher scour protection properties. Note that for either option the establishment of vegetation is critical to the long-term stability of the slope face. The contractor must ensure the face of the wall is vegetated by either hydro seeding onto a suitable growing media or placing a seeded soil mix directly into the facing bags (if used). The seed mix must be suitable to the local environment and the contractor must ensure it is sufficiently watered until established.
