The Northern Corridor Improvements (NCI) project aims to facilitate inter-regional travel between Auckland and Northland by building a new motorway connection between State Highway 1 and State Highway 18.
The designer on the project selected T-RECS to be applied to the large swale drain below the stormwater overflow ‘bubble up’ which was a steep slope (approximately 1V:4H).
The Riverside Grove, Tuakau, is a master planned residential development offering new sections ranging from 500m2 to 2000m2. The RainSmart System was chosen as the preferred method of stormwater detention.
The Waiomu Valley Road is the route that connects Waiomu with the Waiomu Kauri Grove, this road is the only access to an old farm track that creates an entry way for an upcoming subdivision. A retaining wall was required after it failed and collapsed.
Originally this project was designed using an alternative system. When project engineer Peter Hill, attended the Cirtex Allan Block Seminar with Allan Block President Tim Bott, an Allan Block retaining wall system was considered and deemed the best solution for the commercial development.
As part of a major state highway upgrade, a 300mm gas pipeline needed to be laid through sandy soils that were prone to a high water table and liquefaction.
