MagnumStone™ is a large wet-cast interlocking concrete block system providing an aesthetically pleasing, robust design, fast and cost-effective retaining solution.
MagnumStone is a unique hollow core mass block system, manufactured here in New Zealand, designed with the asset owner, engineer and contractor in mind. The MagnumStone system allows for robust design options to meet many different conditions and finished facing requirements. An extremely quick and easy installation process effectively removes a lot of the manual labour found with other retaining systems.

Design Options
Gravity Wall
Gravity walls are built with the large MagnumStone blocks that use a tongue-and-grove system to lock the gravity extenders in place. They rely on their own and extended weight to hold back the earth behind them.
Planter Wall
The aesthetically pleasing plantable terraces maximise green area, which reduce the “heat island” effect. It’s unique internal drainage system makes it the prime choice for environmentally friendly and sustainable wall solutions.
Geogrid Wall
Geogrids used with the appropriate lengths, layers and compacted backfill materials will resist the active forces above and behind the wall. The use of geogrid reinforcement with the MagnumStone system is typically very cost effective.
Mass Block Wall
Mass block function without reinforcing. Stable up to 1.8m height. Rapidly constructed and an efficient alternative to gabions for emergency roadside slip repair or another option where a block facing is required with limited space for reinforcing.
Positive Connection
MagnumStone allows for the ultimate geogrid positive connection. This unique positive or mechanical connection provides the system with a greater safety factor for connection when designing for heavy loads, bridges and railways.
Steel Grid
The MagnumStone steel grid solution provides designers with a great option, similar to traditional panel/steel systems, with significant installation and cost advantages to the end user.
Cantilevered Wall
The large vertical and horizontal hollow cores of the MagnumStone units provide the permanent form for reinforcing steel and concrete, making installation easy and cost effective.

Frequently Asked Questions
The MagnumStone extenders are used only for a gravity wall where extra mass is required to make the wall stable. They nest into the back of the block to provide extra support. Extenders are not required for geogrid reinforced walls.
Currently we are stocking the LedgerStone finish which has an attractive natural rock appearance. Other face details are available on a project specific basis.
MagnumStone can be designed as a reinforced wall with StrataGrid reinforcement, or as a mass gravity structure without grid. Ask Cirtex which option is best for your site.
Cirtex can provide indicative design charts for initial project costing and can assist an engineer with detailed analysis. MagnumStone uses tried and trusted international design methodology.
