Project Information
A global corporation constructing a new warehouse facility in Auckland required an underground stormwater detention system. Located beneath a loading bay, the system would be subject to heavy vehicle loads from frequent truck movements.
DESIGN
The initial design comprised of five separate tanks which were to be prefabricated off site then joined together onsite, to provide a total of 117m3 of stormwater detention.
Cirtex was approached to optimise the design for a more efficient solution. Working with the project engineer, Cirtex proposed an AquaFort system with an impermeable liner that could be welded onsite.
The revised design consolidated the layout into two modular systems, enabling transport on a single truckload with no oversize load requirement, while exceeding both the strength and storage requirements of the initial design. Additionally, AquaFort offered a 100% New Zealand made, recycled product meaning that the client was supporting both New Zealand economy and environmental efforts while reducing their overall costs.
INSTALLATION
Installation of the two AquaFort® systems was completed within eight hours, including module placement, lining, and welding. The speed of installation limited site disruption to a single day, avoiding extended downtime and allowing the construction programme to continue uninterrupted. Cirtex worked alongside the installation team, providing on-site technical support to ensure efficient delivery and quality assurance throughout the process.
The AquaFort System provided the following benefits to the project:
- Manufactured from recycled plastic, supporting the client’s sustainability objectives
- Fast installation with no delays to the wider construction programme
- Reduced transport requirements and overall project cost savings
