Spill Kits
Cirtex has introduced a range of spill kits with natural absorbents as the primary absorbent material.
The Hemp Hurd and Sphagnum Peat Moss absorbents used in these kits are 100% organic and are sourced/grown in New Zealand.
HempHurd
When grown, the Hemp Hurd crop absorbs approximately 450g of carbon per kg. (1.37kg of CO2 per kg) This makes it a very environmentally friendly alternative to traditional absorbent medias.
EnviroPeat®
EnviroPeat® is a non-toxic, all natural, 100% organic absorbent that is economical, non-leaching and biodegradable.
The Cirtex Spill Kit Range
The spill kits come in a range of sizes and types starting from the 15L small vehicle kit, through to the 240L spill kit for larger sites. Check out the list of options below for sustainable alternatives to standard absorbent products i.e. our special 100% cotton absorbent socks with EnviroHemp absorbent.
While the absorbents are 100% biodegradable, appropriate care must be taken with disposal once it has been used to absorb spillages.
Cirtex supplies the full kits ready for use along with handy refill kits to replenish the kits after they have been used.

As with any spill, the first priority is containment. Once contained the hydrocarbon spill can be cleaned up with absorbent materials and removed. When working around any waterway we recommend you always have a spill contingency plan in place with the appropriate solutions on hand.
Hemp is grown in NZ. Unlike alternative absorbents, it is not made from petrochemical based products and it does not require extraction. Being lightweight the hemp hurd comes in compressed bales, which upon opening expand significantly. This gives the potential for relatively large coverage when required.
Yes. This kit is a hydrocarbon spill kit. It is intended to handle spills consisting of hydrocarbons like, diesel, petrol, oil, brake fluids etc. If you have a chemical spill you must use specialised absorbents.
